WHAT IS ASIAN BODYWORK THERAPY?
Any form of therapeutic bodywork which has its theoretical roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is known as Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT).
TCM is thousands of years old and assesses the body's energetic system through observation, palpation and questioning. Qi (pronounced 'chee') is the vital energy that runs through this system. It may be invisible but it can be felt by both practitioner and receiver! When the Qi is stuck, we move it. When Qi is weak, we strengthen it. Health as defined by TCM is a state of balance where Qi is abundant and moving freely.
The amazing thing about Asian Bodywork and TCM is that they look at each person as a unique individual. No two people are treated in the same way, just as no two people are alike.
