WHAT TO EXPECT
When you come for your first appointment I will allow time for an intake where we will discuss your health history and your reasons for seeking treatment. Together we will decide what styles and techniques are right for you and then you will have your first session. Afterwords I love to hear your feedback on how the session went and how you are feeling. Communication is a key part of a successful bodywork session, so please feel free to discuss with me.
I've been trained in a variety of techniques and so sessions may integrate Namikoshi Shiatsu, Shiatsu-Anma, Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Rehabilitative Massage, Cupping or Thai Bodywork. You may choose from 3 different focuses:
TYPES OF BODYWORK USED IN MY PRACTICE
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese form of therapeutic massage that works to balance the Qi throughout the body in order to give you a holistic full body session that addresses health on a physical, mental and emotional level. I practice Shiatsu-Anma, Namikoshi Shiatsu and Ampuku abdominal techniques.
Massage treatments work to normalize compromised soft tissue structures in order to eliminate pain, stiffness and muscle weakness. I practice Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Cross-Fiber frictioning and Swedish techniques.
During a Thai massage the receiver is passively taken through a series of stretches and positions that are similar to Yoga poses, while the practitioner applies massage pressure along the energy (Sen) lines. Energetic balance, increased flexibility and a deep meditative state are some effects of this type of work.
Cupping therapy works to alleviate stagnation of blood and lymph by applying reverse suction pressure with glass or plastic cups onto the skin.
Yes, I work through all stages of pregnancy! The bodywork will be supportive of your rapidly changing state and can offer many benefits including pain relief, relaxation and cultivation of a peaceful body for your little one to grow in.
